Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is a community-driven programme that permits foreign people to get a job offer in rural and northern Canada to meet labour shortages.

Since the majority of immigrants have settled in urban regions, rural areas are seeing an increase in work opportunities. Low birth rates, an ageing population, and youth immigration have all been reported to have had a significant impact on the country’s population. The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP) Canada was established for these reasons.

Furthermore, the programme is intended to aid economic development in smaller communities by providing a road to permanent residency and citizenship for foreign nationals who wish to work and live in any of the participating communities.
