Agri-Food Immigration Pilot (AFIP)

The agriculture and agri-food sector contributes significantly to Canada’s economic growth. The Agri-Food Immigration Pilot was established by the Canadian government in order to attract and retain people who are needed to sustain and grow the agri-food business.

By boosting the benefits of experienced, non-seasonal Agri-Food employees who can settle in Canada, the Agri-Food Immigration Pilot programme serves to address the labour demands of the Canadian Agri-Food business.

Temporary foreign employees with experience in the agri-food business in Canada are only granted restricted work permits and are not eligible for permanent residency. However, instead of needing to renew their work licences on a regular basis, this Pilot allows them to become permanent citizens.
