Federal Skilled Worker

Permanent residence visas are awarded to candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker immigration category. The ability of competent workers to immigrate, support themselves, and settle down economically in Canada is a selection criterion in this programme. IRCC intends to allow talented people into Canada under this programme in order to promote and sustain the diversity and skills of Canada’s workforce. The federal skilled worker programme is controlled by the Express Entry system, which entails a series of processes.

Who Can Be A Federal Skilled Worker?

In order to be considered for the Federal Skilled Worker Category (FSWC), all applicants must meet the minimum point requirement of 67 out of 100. After passing the points test, the applicant creates an online profile in the Express Entry pool of candidates. To allocate points to applicants in the pool, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) has many selection factors including:

✓ Demonstrate one year of paid skilled work experience or similar experience out of a total of the last 10 years in specified occupations (NOC- 0/A/B)

✓ Language proficiency in French or English (one of the two official languages)

✓ A full-time and permanent job offer from a Canadian employer (LMIA)

✓ Level of education is considered (education obtained in Canada is assigned higher points)

✓ Age of the applicant (higher age gives lower points)

✓ Adaptability includes blood relatives in Canada, any ties to Canada, etc

✓ Obtain a minimum of 67 points as per the CRS points system

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) holds a draw, and the top-ranked applicants are asked to apply (ITA). The chosen applicants have sixty (60) days from the date of invitation to file their application for permanent residence.

After the applicant has successfully completed the eligibility conditions, they must show proof of their settlement funds. The applicant and their dependents must pass medical exams administered by a licensed physician.

The last phases in the Federal Skilled Worker category involve passing the criminal and security checks in the Canadian immigration procedure.
