Cusma Usmca Nafta
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is a 1994 trade agreement between Canada, the United States, and Mexico that was rewritten and renamed in 2018. NAFTA aims to abolish trade barriers between the three countries, such as taxes on goods, in order to promote economic integration and prosperity among them. In November 2018, Canada, Mexico, and the United States agreed to replace the previous NAFTA agreement with the USMCA.
Under the USMCA, businesspeople from the United States and Mexico can enter Canada temporarily for activities including as trade, investment, and the exchange of products and services. It eliminates the necessity for all persons affected to complete a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and simplifies the entire application procedure.
Basic Requirements
✓ Must be a citizen of the US or Mexico
✓ Must have a job offer in one of the sixty NAFTA occupations
✓ Must have the qualifications for the occupation specified in the NAFTA agreement.
What Types of Business People May Enter Under USMCA?
Four categories of business individuals are included under this agreement. Those categories include:
✓ Business Visitors: Engaged in activities involving research and design; growth, manufacture, and production; marketing; sales; distribution; after-sales service; and general service.
✓ Professionals: Enter to provide pre-arranged professional services as a salaried employee of a Canadian enterprise, through a contract between them and a Canadian employer, or through a contract between their American or Mexican employer and a Canadian enterprise.
✓ Intra-company Transferees: Employed by an American or Mexican enterprise in a managerial or executive role, or in one which involves specialized knowledge, and are being transferred to the Canadian enterprise, branch, or affiliate to provide similar services.
✓ Traders and Investors: Carries out substantial trade in goods or services between the US and Canada or Mexico and Canada, or have committed/are committing a substantial amount of capital in Canada; must be employed in a supervisory or executive capacity or one that involves essential skills.

Admissibility
Even if citizens of the United States or Mexico meet one of the four criteria, there is still a chance they will be denied access. Those who are disqualified under the CUSMA may be eligible to enter Canada as a temporary worker and apply for a work permit.
